The steering rack on my under 2 year old bmw ix with ~21k miles needed to be replaced. The vehicle displayed an intermittent warning about increased steering effort and to contact my service center. Upon taking it in they diagnosed it as a steering rack issue. Before taking it in, internet searches suggest many other owners of 2022 bmw ixs are having similar failures for the last several months. Steering failure could easily cause a crash and significant injury or death if it happened at the wrong time. Having the rack fail on a car this new is worrisome.
The contact owns a 2024 bmw x7. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 24v104000 (electronic stability control - esc, service brakes) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Passenger restraint system malfunction just came out of the blue. In the morning it was fine, in the afternoon when i went out to my car it threw this error. Other cars in the 5 and x series with the sport seats i have were also recalled for this same issue, but there is no recall for my car. Please help!
The contact owns a 2010 bwm 328i. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with the camshaft position sensor and vanos assembly bolts. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 23v707000 (engine and engine cooling). The vin was included, but parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the nhtsa hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
Headlight assembly has issues with the seal and condensation can/does enter the headlight assembly rendering the functionality of the headlight as suspect. Without proper lighting and condensation in front of the headlight which greatly impacts/effects the clarity and visibility of objects in the front of the car creating a safety issue. The cost to replace/repair these assemblies is excessive and is a widespread problem across multiple bmw models/years.

Check engine light is illuminated. Vanos exhaust warning codes are stored. Other vehicles with the same n52 engine are subject to recall 23v707. Bmw indicates that this vehicle is not included but could be in the future. In the interim, we are faced with a $3500 - $4500 out-of-pocket expense (which will probably never be reimbursed) or the possibility of the events described in the recall, which include a crash. For the safety of drivers of other vehicles in this same series with this same engine, it is imperative that the recall be extended to all potentially affected automobiles. My 2018 bmw 330i has the same problem that the recall for the fuel sensor level on 2018 bmw m5! I broke down on the side of the interstate and had it towed to bmw and they said it was the fuel sensor reading more than it should and wanted to charge almost 3,000 to fix it. There are similarities to the other recalls and my vehicle should also be included in that recall. I had to pay 300. 00 just for them looking at it. I found it odd the sensor would do that and my investigation has brought me here. There was no warning and i was stranded on the interstate
My car is producing a warning light for "passenger restraint system malfunction". This is a safety hazard and it is not covered by warranty. I believe this should be investigated and a recall should be mandated as many people have this issue. The cost to fix is over $2,500 and bmw should bear the cost of this safety issue.
Since purchasing the vehicle, the illumination of the instrument cluster, information center screen, and sometimes the climate controls dim partially or completely during daytime driving. This occurs randomly and frequently at times. Reported this to bmw service at least three times since purchasing the vehicle. Bmw service could not identify the issue but flashed the on-board software at least twice as a possible fix. Neither episode corrected the problem and bmw says they don't know what is going on since the issue has not reported an error code. I understand this issue, or issues generally similar, has been experienced by other bmw owners across this and other bmw model lines. Bmw north america has washed their hands of this isse and the dealeers have no idea how to diagnose and fix it.
