The vacuum pump failed, causing the gear to explode, which in turn damaged the cam shaft. Yes, this is available for inspection. The brake was unable to be depressed, requiring extreme force to being able to safely stop at an area that was safe to do so. I turned the car off and it made a funny sound. When i tried to start the car, it would no longer start. The car was towed to my local auto mechanic and then to the closest buick dealership. The dealership diagnosed the problem outlined above. No warning lights.

  • Failed components: ENGINE

Took 2017 buick cascada in for repair following whistling noise and stalling while idle. This vehicle only has 42k miles. The mechanic was concerned this could/should be a recall issue due to the low mileage on the vehicle. On google searches, i found similar issues were reported and gm extended the warranty on buick cascadas for different years. Both the 2016 and 2019 had a global warranty for pcv issues and camshaft covers. "global safety field investigations [xxx] urgent - distribute immediately date: february 16, 2023 subject: [xxx]- special coverage camshaft cover the mechanic stated, "the built-in pcv system has failed causing a vacuum issue within the engine and requires the entire camshaft cover to need replacement. " the mechanic was unable to do the repair and suggested the vehicle be taken to a gm dealership. It is scheduled for repair at mcelveeen buick in summerville, sc in the next couple of days. The check engine warning light is on and the vehicle has stalled while idling in traffic. There is a whistling noise resembling a worn belt noise in the right front of the engine. 2018 Buick ENVISION
  • Date of Incident: Jan-30, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Feb-27, 2024
  • Failed components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL and ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The instrument panel cluster failed and is completely gone black. Due to the failure, there is no speedometer, or other safety notifications being delivered to the driver. The lack of knowing your current speed, the speed cruise control is set at, along with zero safety notifications is a huge safety issue for the driver and passengers, other vehicles on the road and pedestrians, etc. All of the alert features failed, including the forward collision warning, parking collision warning, lane keeping assistance, etc. The component was inspected by the gmc dealer's shop the vehicle was purchased through, along with another gmc certified shop. There were zero warning lamps, message or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. After reading numerous on-line buick/gmc forums, it appears this same issue has been prolonged and on-going across multiple buick years, makes and models.

2021 Buick Enclave
  • Date of Incident: Feb-05, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Feb-24, 2024
  • Failed components: STRUCTURE:BODY and ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The rear switch on our tailgate has failed and it allows the tailgate to open/close randomly on its own while the vehicle is locked even. I contacted buick about the problem and they said didn’t care, but this can happen while the vehicle is moving down the road as well as when parked. It’s not necessarily a typical safety issue that are normally recalled for, but it does pose significant safety issues if you want your car to be locked and you come back from the store and it’s not and people are free to break it or if it were to happen while moving. We had this happen on our car at around 38,000 miles. From reading other buick forums to try and figure out what the cause is, it sounds like it’s a somewhat common occurrence. It’s alarming that it can open while the vehicle is locked.
