While driving my 2018 hyundai santa fe sport in freeway traffic, i felt the vehicle begin to heavily vibrate and the engine was jerking severely. The speed began to slowly descend. I was unable to control this. I was in a one-lane overpass, with no safe place, room, or lane to pull over. I felt hopeless and fearful for my life. I was literally drifting, praying the vehicle would be able to handle the descent upward. As the speed declined, the vibrations became more pronounced. No dash lights were illuminated. Other drivers behind me were approaching rapidly at the speed limit and slamming on their brakes and hazard lights in an attempt to notify drivers further back. I managed to maneuver over to approximately 24 inches of a faux shoulder on the right of 610 west freeway in houston, texas. Cars hurled past mine within inches of my vehicle. I knew i needed to get out of the car and crawled over to the passenger side. Again, i was trapped. Several hpd units were dispatched to literally shut down the freeway to enable a tow truck driver to safely hook up my suv. I had it towed to my mechanic and he did a diagnostic indicating a compression issue. He ordered new spark plus and 4 new coils. Upon further investigation he discovered that cylinder 4 was not holding compression and he informed me that the engine had failed. I then had it towed to the local hyundai dealer. At check in, i was informed that there would be a $700 diagnostic/tear apart fee to discover what repairs were needed. I informed them exactly what was needed and i expected a new engine. The hyundai mechanic dismantled the engine and took pictures, ran a few tests. He submitted the results to hyundai for approval. The engineer at hyundai denied a new engine claiming "the head coil is not part of the recall". I was told for $2500, hyundai would "refab" my damaged head to control the leaks. If that repair didn't address the issue, i was sure to get a new engine. A financial and physical risk.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard an abnormal cracking sound emanating from the engine compartment, after which the vehicle inadvertently lost all motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. All warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who determined that an internal oil leak had resulted in the engine seizing, requiring a replacement engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 196,000.

I was driving my 2014 Hyundai Sonata, with my 3 year old twins in the car. The car would not accelerate properly. All the lights came on on the dashboard. I pulled over. It was just smoking then caught fire.

The contact owns a 2016 hyundai genesis. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, she heard an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment, after which she observed smoke coming from the engine compartment before the vehicle lost electrical power. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the starter solenoid. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 24v107000 (electrical system). The vin was included in the recall however, parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 104,000.

Iccu failed post software update. Driving home and was suddenly alerted electrical vehicle systems were malfunctioning, and shortly following (1 or 2 minutes), the car flashed a new warning telling me to stop the vehicle. Had i been on a busy highway or a one lane street with low visibility, it would have put me and my wife in danger of being struck by other traffic. Luckily, i was very close to home so i drove home and did not drive the car for a few days. While researching what to do, i had read about the iccu failure and my problems were similar. I called a tow truck to get it out to a dealer. When attempting to shift the card into drive or reverse, the car would not move. Dealer has determined that my iccu is in fact bad and is currently in the shop being replaced. Unknown how long this will take.

I was driving on the highway at 65 miles per hour and my 2017 Santa Fe began to decelerate. I tried pushing hard on my petal and it would not accelerate past 30 mph. I got off the highway as safely as I could. I heard a knocking sound while driving and the check engine light came on after my car experienced this problem.

My Sonata is experiencing Engine failure due to excessive and irregular oil consumption. The Hyundai dealership conducted an oil consumption test in which it was discovered that the car is excessively using oil. My Safety and the safety of others were put at risk as the engine slow and stalls without prior warning and the check engine light does not come on until the vehicle slows and stalls. The vehicle was inspected at a Hyundai dealership and submitted to Hyundai for all or partial financial assistance for a new Engine and in turn was declined by Hyundai even though they have a know issue of their Engines consuming an unusually high rate of oil.

Additionally, the contact observed white smoke coming from the engine and an abnormal oil burning odor. The check engine and oil warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 148,000.

Nhtsa: #23v651000 i need to know when i can get this major problem fix. This is a safety issue that needs attention. The vehicles anti-lock brake system module could leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short. An electrical short could result in significant overcurrent in the abs module, increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire while driving or parked. 4/13/2024 i was contacted took my vehicle in and was told a fuse would be ordered and i would be called back in to to get this safety issue fixed. I just spoke with the service manager in terrell and he said the remedy was taken away on april 14th 2024, one day after i was a the dealership and all ordered were canceled. Please see my invoice from april 13th, 2024 in attachment. This is a big problem for me.
