While entering into a parking spot at minimal speed, the vehicle experienced an unexpected spontaneous acceleration, causing it to lunge forward, climb onto the curb, and collide with the adjacent building. This resulted mainly in damage to the front end and front passenger door, and the shattering of a large tempered glass window that cushioned the impact. Thankfully, there were no pedestrians on the sidewalk, and the impacted office space was unoccupied at the time of the incident. It is important to note that i was not utilizing the cruise control at the time of the spontaneous acceleration incident and that the vehicle had only been driven 1760 miles since it was purchased, further highlighting the totally unexpected nature of the occurrence. This alarming event of the car accelerating on its own, when it had come to an almost full stop, leads me to believe that the car could pose a significant safety risk. I am deeply troubled by the potential consequences of this spontaneous acceleration; no warning light or collision safety feature turned on. I consider that it is imperative for kia to conduct a thorough investigation and retrieve the vehicle data to determine the root cause of the incident.
Driving a 2016 Kia Sorento on I75 at 70 mph, the engine experienced total failure with no warning lights. Towed to local Kia dealer who has it today. Dealer said it had total engine failure and the rods were severely knocking. Dealer said there were multiple engine failure existing recalls with the 4 cylinder but none yet for 6 cylinder vehicles though Kia had multiple 6 cylinder failures.
Ms. Nadine thomas, who is running for district 44 in georgia, has served on the georgia house of representatives and the georgia state senate is my boss and know what i have been through with my vehicle and has heard from kia in athens ga that there is nothing they can do. I have a 2017 kia optima that i have been having problems with since around 06/2022 or a little before. I have been getting oil changes and putting oil in the vehicle every week or every other week. It finally took a mechanic to tell me it is an issue with kia's and a recall due to the replacement of the motor because the cars are losing oil. I do not have an oil leak but losing it every week and replacing it and it is expensive for an oil change and a gallon of oil constantly. I have reached out to kia manufacturer and case was denied, bbb and kia denied it all the way, through where i went has far as to the attributor. Georgia attorney general and they sent a letter to the bulldog kia in athens and they said i have to go through the process of either hearing a thumping noise or motor light flashing constantly and or car shuts off before my motor can be replace. None of this has happened. I had to pay out of pocket for a tune up which was over $300 in sept 2023 and again early this year 2023 and no reimbursement but it’s on my kia receipts due to oil consumption (leaking of oil) it’s causing me to keep replacing the spark plugs. Renting vehicles when they would have to keep my vehicle to replace the spark plugs, and missing time from work. They will not compensate me for it, replace the motor, and or provide me another vehicle. I feel also because i am a woman that i am racially profiled, i have been very professional, calm, and provided more than enough time, effort, and providing all the information to kia and i am not getting nowhere or through to anyone that will hear me or understand what i am going through. Infotainment panel on this vehicle flickered on and off. In certain occurrences the whole infotainment cluster would go out while driving and would not come back on. Kia dealer was told from their tech line which is through kia corporate that it could be faulty electrical wiring or this coaxial cable. Kia dealer specifically stated that they had no idea that this coaxial line was there and had to fix the connection by welding it again. After this so far the infotainment system seems to be working properly. Now we are dealing with a battery discharge warning problem that kia dealer can’t seem to figure out after they fixed the infotainment system. Before this the battery discharge warning never came up.
