2020 Lincoln CORSAIR
  • Date of Incident: Dec-26, 2022
  • Date complaint filed: Jan-30, 2023
  • Failed components: AIR BAGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS

I was involved in a front-end collision a ~7 ton commercial vehicle, their fault due to distracted driving while using a cell phone, in which the forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and air bags failed. My corsair had to be towed since it did not run after the accident, the drivers door could not open, so had to crawl out the passenger side. The corsair was taken to an autobody shop that day and within a week their preliminary visual estimate without tearing down was over half the value of the vehicle and has since been declared a total loss. I sustained injuries in the accident that will be treated for some time and can only speculate that had systems worked, there could have been a chance for less severe injuries or potentially avoided the collision altogether. The autobody shop and insurance has all commented they were surprised none of the safety features worked, but no root cause has been documented as to why. At the time of the accident, all recalls were considered up-to-date and the vehicle has been very well maintained to by a ford dealer and to the specifications of the owners manual. There were no warning lamps.

Other warning lights with regards to collision control, etc. Came on. Many other people have reported this problem with the steering mechanism on this particular car.

2013 Lincoln MKX
  • Date of Incident: Jan-22, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Jan-28, 2023
  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES

When stepping on the brake pedal about four months ago, it traveled nearly to the floor with correspondingly poor breaking but better than nil. Although it could be pumped up a bit to improve stopping it would continue to travel toward the floor. There was not room between the floor and pedal for the toe of my shoe. It was repaired with parts that were not ford a lincoln oem. Two months later, it happened again and was repaired with oem booster and master cylinder. It has again happened in jan 2022 with about 130,000 miles. I’ve read some of the issues with the booster but this has defied competent, hopefully competent, technicians on two prior occasions.

2023 Lincoln AVIATOR
  • Date of Incident: Jan-03, 2022
  • Date complaint filed: Jan-27, 2023
  • Failed components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Screen/image flickers intermittently when rare & front cameras are engaged. I am uncertain of the cause. It happens randomly & sometimes several times a day. Problem started right after i received the vehicle from the dealership. I have couple of videos of the issues & i can share if requested. I took the vehicle to the dealership & they updated software of the vehicle but it didn’t not resolve the problem. I believe malfunction of the cameras increases risk of crash.

2017 Lincoln MKZ
  • Date of Incident: Jan-07, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Jan-25, 2023
  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, AIR BAGS, and VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY

Failed components: sunroof drains become clogged and overflow into trunk well, causing electrical shortage, mold/mildew, and water damage along headliner and side airbags. Safety risk: electrical shortage causes fire risk, and mold mildew build up in car for asthmatic makes it damaging for air intake myself and others inside vehicle. Side airbags at risk as over flooding runs down pillars along side wiring. Reproduced: this has occurred twice, in my 2013 & 2017 lincoln mkz. No documentation is listed in either manual for maintenance around drains or possible flooding risk. Symptoms: shorted electrical components for audio systems, check engine light, putrid foul odor lingering in vehicle, soaked rear carpet in trunk (closest to back seat) headliner show signs of water damage near curtain airbags. Notice to auto manufacturer: i alerted ford motor company the first time in my 2013 mkz on several different occasions, after the vehicle was in repair 3x over $5k in damages, due to faulty connection of drains. 2017 mkz, as of january 2023 has a flooded trunk, malfunctioning electrical systems, mold/mildew build up, with estimated repairs of $5k+. Advised that nowhere in the maintenance section is this listed considering the magnitude of damage this can result in from poor care and design.

  • Date of Incident: Jan-15, 2022
  • Date complaint filed: Jan-24, 2023

The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact pulled off the road and turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the wrench symbol was displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle was losing motive power and slower speeds; however, while depressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle was jerking while the rpm was increasing. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed and had not been repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that she had experienced a failure of the rear passenger’s side seat belt which started to tighten independently while her child was in her car seat and restrained by the belt. The contact stated that she had to cut the seat belt webbing to the disconnect button on the belt buckle. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

2020 Lincoln NAUTILUS
  • Date of Incident: Apr-25, 2022
  • Date complaint filed: Jan-23, 2023
  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, and ENGINE

My car won't start when i press the brake and hit the start button, which then flashes green instead of staying green. I have to go through the same steps several times before it will turn on. The menu goes through the entire functions of the engine. For me, i never know if the engine will start or i will be stranded. I thought after two visits to service, it was fixed. Today, it stalled at a green light, and when i powered off and powered back on, the start button started the flashing light, the function menu again. My car wouldn't start and there was a long line behind me. I bought my car in feb 2021 and only have 17,500 miles because i'm afraid of being stranded. I paid $52,000 cash for this car and expect that when i turn it on, i'll be able to drive to my destination without problem. This will be the third time my car is in service. The dealership won't give me a loaner because of covid. I've never been so disappointed over something i've bought. The dealership is of very little help or empathy.
