  • Date complaint filed: May-09, 2024
  • Failed components: POWER TRAIN

The system that failed on my Maxima SL 2017 was the CVT transmission. It was diagnosed by Sutherlin Dealer Nissan on 4/3/24 with the code DTC P17F1 CVT Judder at the cost of $193.83. My safety & others were put at risk when my car STOP in the middle of an intersection not once but 4 times without a warning, not lights, not sounds etc. just STOP. I pressed the gas petal and the car moved slowly. After the diagnosis we were told the car may or may not stop again. We decided to look for another diagnosis & quote. On 4/10/24 the car left me stranded again crossing another intersection. Car was towed again to a certified Nissan transmission shop and left for repairs. A Nissan OEM refurbished transmission was changed, and computer was reprogrammed at Sutherlin Nissan as part of the fixing at a cost of $6,707.49. On 4/29/24 car stop sudden again. Car was towed to the previous independent transmission shop and 4 days later they stated nothing was wrong because not code related to the transmission or anything else showed, but a new battery was placed. We pick up the car again from the independent repair shop on 5/3/24, in our trip back the next day 5/4/24 from returning the 3rd rental car, the car STOP again in the middle of the road (limp mode) We waited about 45 minutes with the car on and noticed a strange noise coming from the new installed transmission and the air conditioner turned off. After turning the engine on and off the AC came back on again and car seems to come back normally. We were able to manage to take it to the Nissan Dealership with was just 15 minutes away. We left the car and waited for the diagnosis to be made on Monday 5/6/24. We were informed that same transmission code showed which means the new installed refurbished transmission was gone bad!!! and the good news was we don't have to pay for another transmission, but we must pay for labor again $2,696.

- front windshield; internal bubbles/separation of glass at top edge of front windshield as it meets the seal. - the glass appears to be separating internally, compromising the safety aspect and will start to spread downward over time. - the factory front windshield was already replaced once a few years back by nissan dealership for this exact same problem (can provide exact dates/information later); and the same exact problem is happening again. Nissan dealership knows about it, but has not officially inspected/documented for their records, but i can get this completed. - no warning/symptoms other than visual inspection/noticing the issue occuring when cleaning car. - contacted nissan consumer affairs about the problem, and that this is the second time of the exact problem, but nissan consumer affairs would only state that nissan could do nothing about the problem at this time, although this is a clear defect of the windshield manufacturing process. I provided pictures of the problem, and they wouldn't even address the problem, other than, nissan can't do anything at this time about the problem. There is a nissan tsb regarding windshield issues/defects, but also addresses warranty. The second replacement windshield is not in warranty, and asked nissan to see if they could resolve the problem due to manufacturer defect and the fact that it may spread downward, causing more problems and/or safety stability of the top of the windshield and have an engineer or specialist look into it, they were not willing to do this.

The sunroof inexplicably blew out while driving on a 3-lane interstate normally taken to work every day in the morning, windows were up. This movable portion of the sunroof is part of the panoramic sun roof. The sun shade was open, it is normally left open. Some small pieces of the glass fell onto me and seats but most was sucked up and away from the car. Thankfully, no glass hit me in the face and no cars were around me. I have rear cam footage of the glass flying out behind the car. Front footage shows nothing hit the car, no one was near enough to suspect otherwise. A picture is attached of what is left.

  • Date complaint filed: Apr-18, 2024
  • Failed components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, and LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING

When i start driving, sometimes i randomly see key system error and das malfunction. All other warnings such as emergency brake, traction control, blind spot detection light up. Engine rpm meter keeps going to 0 and back and forth (see video in the link below). When this happens, driver assistance features like forward collision warning, blind spot warning and lane departure warning stops working. Sometimes, i cannot turn off the engine by pressing the stop engine button. I have to hold the button for about 5 seconds to stop the engine. Sometimes there's a chasis control system error (attached a picture from last year). This started happening about a year ago and has occurred at least a dozen times so far. I have taken this to different dealerships, and none have been able to identify the issue. I haven't had any accidents on collisions on this vehicle. Please see link below for a video of the behavior. You can see different warnings coming on and off in the video. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. • Failed components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Low beam headlights are extremely/dangerously low even if the lights are brand new. In my opinion it's extremely dangerous to drive with only my high beams on but thats the only way i can see at night theres no confidence in relying on my low beams.
