My wife was driving the vehicle down the highway with no one around when the sunroof spontaneously exploded without warning. She immediately took the vehicle to the dealership and took photos. You can clearly see that the sunroof glass exploded up and outward - not indicative of an object hitting the sunroof causing it to explode. My one year old son was also in the vehicle at the time it exploded. Luckily, the shade was closed because he had taken a nap earlier that day. However, if the shaded wasn't closed, my wife and son would have been covered in glass. Also, the explosion was so loud and startling, she nearly wrecked. We took the vehicle to the same dealership we bought it and purchased the extended warranty from but they are still refusing to pay for it.

I HAVE A 2020 Nissan Murano THAT HAD 3 OCCURRENCES IN A 48 HOUR PERIOD WHERE THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM CAUSED MY CAR TO STOP IMMEDIATELY WITH NO WARNING OR OBSTRUCTION IN THE ROAD. THE 1ST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR ON A CITY STREET. MY CAR WENT FROM 30 TO 0 WITH NO WARNING. THE MOTOR DIDN'T STALL OUT, THE CAR WAS STILL IDLING BUT THE CAR JUST STOPPED ON THE ROAD. I WAS NOT BRAKING AT THE TIME. I'M THANKFUL NO VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING BEHIND ME AT THE TIME. THE NEXT 2 OCCURRENCES HAPPENED WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY. AGAIN THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE WAY TO OBSTRUCT THE VEHICLE FROM BACKING OUT. NO MAINTENANCE LIGHTS OR WARNING LIGHTS SHOWED UP. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THE COMPUTER DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING WAS IN NEED OF REPAIR. I TOLD THEM THERE WAS NO MAINTENANCE OR WARNING LIGHT THAT SHOWED ON ANY OF THE 3 OCCURRENCES.

Failure of transfer case: while driving vehicle on street going at posted speed limit of 45 mph, suv made grinding noise when coming to a stop light. Upon start of acceleration noise heard again. At speed limit of 45 mph car suddenly felt as if wheels locked up and car would not move in drive. Shift to park, shifted back to drive and reverse, no movement of car in gear. Needed specialized dolly lift towing to dealership in area. Upon multiple inspections and deliberations with dealership maintenance department and nissan warranty representatives part deemed responsible was the transfer case. This was supposedly repaired when incidentally found at prior car inspection at usual dealer. Repair has now been deemed to be completed with used transfer case as a safe options. Concern remains on my mind for faulty part and repair. Concern for others traveling on road that car will come to immediate abrupt stop and accident possible. Luckily car behind me was able to avoid collision.

2015-2019 NISSAN MURANOS HAVE AN ON-GOING ELECTRICAL HAZARD WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROLLED SEATS. THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTOR DIRECTLY UNDER THE SEAT WILL FAIL AND ACTUALLY GET SO HOT IT WILL MELT THE PLASTIC PIECES! IN FACT, NISSAN HAS ISSUED IT'S OWN 15 PAGE SERVICE BULLETIN WARNING TO ITS DEALERS ON THE FIRE DANGER (EL18-035, REFERENCE NTB19-004, DATED 17 JANUARY 2019). THIS BULLETIN GRAPHICALLY SHOWS PICTURES OF HOW THE HARNESS CONNECTOR AND THE SEAT CONTROL UNIT WILL GET SO HOT THEY WILL MELT AND FAIL. IT ALSO DETAILS HOW LOCAL DEALERS SHOULD REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE CONNECTOR AND EVEN HOW THEY SHOULD CHARGE NISSAN BACK FOR THE REPAIR (PAGE 15 - PRIMARY PART LINE CLAIM). MY 2016 Nissan Murano SUFFERED THE SAME DRIVERS SEAT ELECTRICAL FAILURE RECENTLY. I VISUALLY VERIFIED THE DAMAGED (MELTED) CONNECTOR UNDER THE SEAT AND CONTACTED MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALER (YOUNGBLOOD NISSAN, SPRINGFIELD MO.). I PROVIDED THEM THE NISSAN ALERT INFORMATION. THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO FIX THE KNOWN FAILURE UNLESS THEY ARE PAID FOR THE SERVICE WORK (ESTIMATED IS OVER $300.00)! GIVEN THAT THIS FIRE HAZARD COVERS FOUR YEARS WORTH OF NISSAN MURANO PRODUCTION AND THE 2016-2019 TITANS, NISSAN SHOULD FIX THE DEFECTIVE PARTS FOR FREE. WHILE IN MY CASE THERE WAS NO ACTUAL FIRE OR DAMAGE BEYOND THE MELTED ELECTRICAL PARTS AND LOSS OF THE SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL FEATURE..I HAVE LEFT THE DEFECTIVE PLUG DISCONNECTED, STILL LEAVES ME VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THEY SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. I HAVE ATTACHED IMAGES OF BOTH THE INTERNAL NISSAN SERVICE BULLETIN AND AN IMAGE OF MY MELTED AND DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL PLUG. THANK YOU.

At random times while driving the forward collision warning system and cruise control will stop working. On average it happens about every 20 to 25 miles and remains off for 2 to 3 minutes. It does not occur at regular intervals though, this is just the average. It was very difficult to get nissan to replace the sensor while the car was under warranty. They did not want to and finally when they agreed they said the part was on back order due to high demand so i'm not the only customer who has complained about this. The sensor still does not work properly and having the forward collision warning/automatic braking not reliable is a safety issue. Having the cruise control not work is just an annoyance. At nissan's suggestions, i've cleaned the sensor many times and i've ensured that nothing is blocking the sensor. It is simply a faulty, unreliable part and i believe there should be a national recall. This has been happening for over 2 years now. It took many months of complaining and sending them pictures of it not working before they replaced the sensor the first time. That fixed the issue for a few months but now the second sensor on the car has been malfunctioning for over a year. I'm attaching a couple of pictures for example. This issue has happened over a 100 times to me though.

Upon initial state safety inspection for brand new car, nissan service reported metal shavings were found in oil pan and oil was shiny. Check engine light and oil light were not on when car was presented for inspection, and would not go off. Servicer reported that the long block engine was replaced (did not obtain consent or inform me of what the defect was) and work summary stated problem with oil pump. For the week i drove the car, i could sometimes smell funny smell when exiting vehicle after turning off the engine, but attributed it to new car smells.

I was driving 25 mph when the car automatic stopped and applied the automatic emergency brake (aeb) was applied with no obstacles around on a clear sunny day. Purchased the car new with only 3 miles on it. Car came to a complete stop. I am afraid for my safety. Took the car in to dealer and was told nothing is wrong with the car within 1 week it happend again and i was told by the dealer there's nothing wrong with the car.

STARTING IN NOVEMBER 2020, MY 2019 Murano HAS AN UNEXPLAINED CLUNKING/CLATTER NOISE WHEN GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD. IT SOUNDS AS IF IT IS THE SWAY BAR BUSHINGS BUT THE DEALERS ARE NOT PROPERLY DIAGNOSING IT. THE TECHNICIANS TAKE A RIDE WITH ME IN THE VEHICLE AND CLEARLY HEAR AND ACKNOWLEDGE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. HOWEVER THEY PROCEED TO DRIVE ANOTHER USED VEHICLE AND DETERMINE IT IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE WAS NO ABNORMAL SUSPENSION NOISES WHEN IT WAS NEW AND ANY NEW ONE ALSO LACKS THE NOISE. ONE DEALER PROCEEDED TO SAY IT WAS BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING IS FUEL INJECTED. NOT ONLY IS THAT STATEMENT FALSE IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE SINCE THE POWER STEERING IS HYDRAULIC. NISSAN HAS BEEN INFORMED BUT DOESN'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, AND ALSO REFUSE TO REPURCHASE OR REPLACE MY VEHICLE. OTHERS ON THE ONLINE MURANO FORUMS SEE MY VIDEOS OF THE NOISE AND ALSO SAY THEY HAVE THAT ISSUE AND DEALERS PROVIDE THE SAME "NORMAL BEHAVIOR" REASONS. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AS A POTENTIAL MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE. A VEHICLE WITH 20,000 MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY SUSPENSION ISSUES WHEN THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY. I AM NOW HAVING TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE A SUSPENSION SHOP DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND THE CONTACT ROLLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER NISSAN OF LAS CRUCES (1801 S. MAIN ST, LAS CRUCES, NM 88005, (575) 523-5571) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE BATTERY TERMINALS AND ALTERNATOR TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.

Adas is completely unresponsive. The vehicle breaks unexpectedly without cause or warning. The problem is most common when crossing railroad tracks. This presents an extreme safety hazard to myself and my family. The system no has no function and i am unable to utilize the most basic features, to include cruise control. The adas system lights are continuously illuminated on my dash, even after attempts to reset the system.

ON 02/09/2021 APPROXIMATELY 8PM, ARRIVED TO MY DESTINATION, TURNED CAR OFF, WENT INSIDE. APPROXIMATELY 1.5 HOURS LATER (9:30PM) WENT BACK TO MY CAR TO BRING MY SUITCASE AND PILLOW IN. WHEN I REMOVED MY PILLOW FROM THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE SEAT, NOTICED THE BIG SCORCHED AREA AND THE SEAMS WERE BRIGHT RED, THE SEAT WAS BURNING HOT TO TOUCH. BURNING SMELL WAS NOTED, AND THE SEAT SWITCH WAS STILL ON THOUGH THE CAR WAS OFF OVER A HOUR. THE OTHER SEATS WERE NORMAL ( COOL ) TO TOUCH. I IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLES AND STAYED BY THE CAR MAKING SURE THE SEAT AREA COOLED TO NORMAL. NOTE.....MY PILLOW WAS SCORCHED TOO. THE CAR IS A 2017 Nissan Murano, BOUGHT IT NEW.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 Nissan Murano. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS OIL LEAKING FROM ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER JEFF SCHMITT NISSAN LOCATED AT 725 ALPHA RD, BEAVERCREEK, OH 45434 WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION, ENGINE AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 3,000 MILES LATER. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

ON JAN 21, 2021 I WAS DRIVING OUR Murano AND WAS IN THE DRIVE THRU LINE AT THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT PARKING LOT, TO RECEIVE MY COVID-19 VACCINATION. AS THE LINE MOVED, I SLIGHTLY PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL MOVING SLOWLY UP IN THE LINE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED I SLID MY FOOT TO THE LEFT TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE. MY FOOT SLID BEHIND THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I WAS UNABLE TO APPLY THE BRAKES. MY RATE OF TRAVEL WAS LESS THAN 2 MPH, I PLACED THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO COAST AS I TRIED TO REMOVE MY FOOT FROM BEHIND THE BRAKE PETAL. MOVING MY FOOT TO THE RIGHT IT HIT THE SIDE OF THE GAS PETAL (THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN NEUTRAL). AS I STRUGGLED TO FREE MY FOOT, I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO DO SO. UNFORTUNATELY, MY VEHICLE BUMPED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THAT PERSON?S CAR, MY CAR RECEIVES SOME SCRATCHES ON THE BUMPER. MY CONCERN IS IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE I WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT MORE SERIOUS AND EVEN FATAL. I BELIEVE I DID NOTHING WRONG AND THERE SHOULD BE NO WAY A PERSON'S FOOT CAN SLIDE BEHIND THE BRAKE PEDAL. THEN, THEY MUST STRUGGLE TO FREE THEIR FOOT.

On multiple times, in clear weather with no cars in front of me, driving at 40 mph the aeb warning light comes on. Have taken it to the dealer multiple times for diagnosis and repair with no resolution. The first time, the dealer recalibrated the system, and on the second time in for repair, the dealer said no codes were input into the on board computer, so nothing could be done despite my cell phone video showing the incidents occurring.

I WENT FROM A WHITE 2019 Nissan Murano TO A BLACK 2020 MURANO. THE WEEK AFTER I GOT IT, I TOOK A TRIP TO THE GULF COAST. ON MY WAY DOWN, WHEN THE SUN WAS OVERHEAD, THE REAR "LIP" OF THE HOOD ACTED JUST LIKE A MIRROR AND REFLECTED THE SUN RIGHT IN THE DRIVERS EYES. IF YOU LOOK AT THE HOOD, IT SLANTS UP LIKE A NORMAL HOOD, THEN THE LAST 3 INCHES ARE TILTED DOWN TOWARD THE COWL/WINDSHIELD WIPER AREA. I AM ATTACHING A PICTURE, HOWEVER IT DOES NOT ACCURATELY SHOW HOW BRIGHT THIS REFLECTION IS. IT IS EXACTLY LIKE SOMEBODY TAKING A MIRROR AND SHINING IT IN YOUR EYES. I PARTICIPATE IN THE NISSAN EMPLOYEE LEASE PROGRAM AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE ADMINISTRATOR AND THEY SAID THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT; THAT IT WAS A DESIGN ISSUE. THIS SITUATION ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE SUN IS HIGH IN THE SKY BUT IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IT REFLECTS IN YOUR EYES. Smoke was noticed inside the car while i was driving on a rural freeway in the blue mountains of oregon. The source of the smoke appeared to be the rear passenger set, right side. I pulled over. When i opened the door on the right side of the car, a large plum of smoke erupted from the rear seat. I then noticed a black, burned hole in the seat measuring about 10in x 10in. As quickly as it began, the combustion stopped. After a 20-minute wait the seat cooled off and i was able to proceed. Note that the rear seats were in the down position, and pillows were placed on the floor boards where passenger feet would normally be. Photo shows damage to the pillows. I suspect the origin of the fire was an electrical failure related to heated seats.

AS WE WERE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET OUR 2016 Nissan Murano WE COULD SMELL PLASTIC MELTING OR BURNING WHILE HAVING OUR DRIVER SEAT HEATING SYSTEM TURNED ON. WE TURNED OFF THE HEATING SYSTEM. NOW, OUR DRIVER SEAT HEATER DOES NOT TURN ON AT ALL. WE PLAN TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO GET IT DIAGNOSED, BUT AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, WE COULD READ THAT MANY OTHERS DEALT WITH THIS ISSUE PREVIOUSLY. THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT GETS TOO HOT AND BEGINS TO MELT. IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE ELETRICAL HARNESS. I WILL HAVE A SPECIFIC DIAGNOSIS SOON.*DT

About 2 months ago, the display window showing audio selections, rearview camera, navigation, etc. Began rapidly jumping back and forth from screen to screen. Nothing i did, affected it, thus i wasn't able to change channels or get full view when backing up. When in reverse, 2 lines of text were displayed, blocking the camera view. One said, "display settings", but when i pressed it, nothing happened. Upon starting the car, the time varies as to when the irregularities begin. Sometimes it starts immediately, but other times it may appear normal for a few minutes and then start. But once it starts, it doesn't stop until the vehicle is turned off. It seems to be an electrical issue since nothing i've tried remedies it. In the "when did this happen" section below, i will put the approximate date the issue started, but as i said, it is a continuous problem.
