Consumers have filed a total of 19,089 complaints related to ENGINE.
At roughly 77,500 miles our engine starting misfiring both while stationary and in motion. The check engine light came on. We pulled code p0305, indicating cylinder #2 misfire. We replaced the coils and spark plugs and the engine continued to misfire. We then began hearing fluid moving behind our dash board and noticed that the coolant tank was low but no visible coolant leak was found. We took the car to a local ford dealer's service center (woodhouse ford - omaha, ne) for inspection and diagnosis. They confirmed that engine coolant was leaking into cylinder #2, causing the misfire. It was also leaking into the heating element, causing a putrid smell in the cab of the vehicle and the rushing fluid sound behind the dashboard. They confirmed this is related to ford tsb 19-2346. Ford stated that the repair requires a $6300 replacement engine and they are not liable for the damage to the engine as a result of their defect. Per the tsb, this engine defect may result in engine fires but fortunately it did not get to this point for us.

RECENTLY BOUGHT VEHICLE UNKNOWINGLY OF THIS ISSUE AND ARE NOW STUCK WITH THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS OUT THERE FROM Ford Escape OWNERS. While driving about 10 mph in my neighborhood, the engine abruptly cut off. The "d" on my dash began to flash. Steering was difficult and braking was difficult. The car just coasted. I was able to pull the car over to the side of the road and put it in park. Then i was able to restart the car. If i had been on a highway or a busy street, this would easily have been an accident. My 8 year old son was in the car. Now i'm scared to drive the car. I have called the dealer to have them take a look at the vehicle. Seems this is not just an issue for me. A lot of other 2018 jeeps have had this issue. A car that randomly shuts off while it's being driven is a horrific accident waiting to happen. Hopefully something can be done at the dealership. Another issue with the car that may be related or separate. The radio in my center consol turns on when i start the car. Then it freezes and shuts off. Then it turns itself back on and freezes and shuts off again. It goes through this process several time before it will turn on, stay on, and function properly. I am told that it could be that the car needs an update. I am also told by the dealer that the update could result in the car needing an entirely new radio.
ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO SAME ISSUE THE 2016 Soul HAS A RECALL FOR. TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY WITH A SUDDEN LOSS OF ACCELERATION FOLLOWED BY POWER STEERING LOSS. WAS ABLE TO GET OFF HIGHWAY BUT IT TOOK PRESSING HARD ON BRAKES AND PULLING E-BRAKE TO GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED. SERVICE CENTER SAYS IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM FOUND IN 2016 SOUL BUT KIA WON'T APPROVE CLAIMS FOR 2017 SOUL AS THEY AREN'T OFFICIALLY PART OF RECALL.
ENGINE LIGHT ON MY 2017 Edge CAME ON WHEN I STARTED IT. THE CAR WAS SHAKING AND RUNNING ROUGH. TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO SAID WHEN THEY TRIED TO REPLACE THE SPARK PLUGS, THEY BROKE ON OFF. THEY THEN DISCOVERED THE BLOCK CRACKED AND COOLANT GOT INTO THE CYLINDERS. THE ONLY FIX ACTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM A USED CAR LOT. I KEEP ALL MAINTENANCE UP ON THIS VEHICLE SINCE I WORK AS A LUBE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN. I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE BURNS OIL AT A VERY FAST RATE. NOT EVEN 2000 MILES INTO MY MAINTENANCE INTERVAL THE ENGINE IS DRY. THE OIL LAMP TURNS ON. THERE IS NO LEAKS FROM THE ENGINE. I KNEW THIS WAS GONNA BE A PROBLEM TO FIX AND I KNEW IT WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE. I JUST BASICALLY CHANGED MY OIL MORE OFTEN. I WAS DRIVING IT FROM WORK AND THEN IT SUDDENLY STARTED IDLING ROUGH AND IT STARTED STUTTERING REAL BAD. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD ME A CYLINDER IS BLOWN AND IT COULD POSSIBLY NEED A NEW ENGINE. I?VE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 2 YEARS!! AND I?M DEALING WITH HAVING TO REPLACE AND ENGINE ON A 2017 Hyundai Sonata I HAVE KEPT VERY WELL MAINTAINED. THIS CAR HAS ONLY TRAVELED IN THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA. THIS PROBLEM STARTED IN YORBA LINDA CALIFORNIA. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN SHOP NOT EVEN TOUCHED YET BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS POSSIBLE A RECALL ON THIS ENGINE.
After getting the fca emissions modification pushed out by ram/fiat, i have lost about 20-25% gas mileage and power in the truck. The modification has ruined a great truck. Truck is now dangerous because of a lag and lack of power. Mod was installed in summer of 2019 and truck is now ruined.
The passenger side exhaust manifold bolts are breaking. It is happening to many ram truck owners and to some people it is happening more than 3 times. So when you start your very expensive truck it makes an awful loud ticking noise on the passenger side of engine due to exhaust bolts being broken on the manifold and hot exhaust leaking out. This noise usually happens with the first start of the day. But as more bolts continue to break the noise is there more and more.

While driving on the 75 hwy my timing chain broke (common for this engine, i am finding out) and the engine shut off causing me to brake and nearly getting rear ended. Then while trying to cross two lanes trying to get to the shoulder without any power, i nearly got hit several times. Beyond a major safety issue, timing chain failure resulting in needing new engine.
ON SOME OCCASIONS THE STEERING WAS NOT SMOOTH, AS IF IT STUCK JUST A LITTLE AND I WOULD HAVE TO LIGHTLY JERK IT. THIS WAS ALWAYS HIGHWAY. THEN ABOUT A WEEK AGO MY OIL LIGHT FLICKERED AND I MEAN ONLY A SECOND AND THEN AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME. WHEN I CHECKED MY OIL, THERE WASN'T A DROP ON THE DIPSTICK AND IT LOOKED TO HAVE A LITTLE BURNT OIL ON VERY TIP. IT WAS ALSO VERY HARD TO GET THE OIL CAP ON TO ADD OIL. I HAD TO ADD 3 QUARTS! WHY DID MY OIL LIGHT COME ON BEFORE THIS AND WHY DID IT NOT STAY ON? MY CAR IS A 2017 Kia Sorento AND HAS ONLY HAD MAINTENANCE AT THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT. I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW THIS WAS AN ISSUE FOR YEARS. WHY ISNT SOMEONE MAKING KIA ACCOUNTABLE? I CANT AFFORD TO PAY UPFRONT FOR REPAIRS AND WHEN COURTS DECIDE YEARS LATER MAYBE WE'LL GET REIMBURSED, THEY DON'T WAIT ON THEIR PAYMENTS FOR THE VEHICLES.
Car uses 1 qt of oil every 500 miles with 117k miles on engine, no leaks.
TL THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 Toyota Camry. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DARCARS KIA OF FREDERICK (5826 URBANA PIKE, FREDERICK, MD 21704) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, SHE WAS NOT INFORMED AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE OR WHAT WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
Replaced my water pump 2 times already. Now i am replacing thermostat housing. All this under 45000 miles
Engine coils keep going bad. First engine coil went bad at 60,000 miles and now my second engine coil has gone up at 67,000 miles.
With no warning my car completely stopped working, no engine light ever came on, my oil changes were up-to-date, and it was diagnosed with rod knock which is what everybody else on here is saying. How is there not already a recall on this year???
On march 27, 2021 engine randomly started having issues while on the highway. Car would not accelerate and? Reduced engine power? Notification came on. Even backing out of the driveway the car shut off and had to push down hard on gas to get it to back up because it wouldn? T accelerate back. When i was coming out of my neighborhood the car would not accelerate from a stopped position when turning onto the main street and the cars had to come to a complete stop behind me. Driving was rough, was feeling like it was going to breakdown. I got the car fixed april 1-2, 2021. The engine light is back on april 4, 2021.
While driving on the highway there was a mechanical noise that came from the engine - the entire motor block gradually began to shake more and more, the engine light came on, and within 30 minutes the entire car died - would not start. Had to have it towed and reviewed my mechanic. Misfires on cylinder 3, and a spark plug was pulled and noticed that the gap was closed - something in the engine had hit the plug to close the gap. Massive amount of engine knock. Car only has 67k miles on it.
The engine light has come on 3 times with a truck with only 9000 miles on it i took it to the dealership who gave me a code of p12a6 they told me chevrolet is aware of this problem but has not come up with solution yet or even wrote a program to reflash the computer. Now i have a paper weight in my driveway and being that i live in a dual town trying to find a dealership that will fix it and provide rental car or truck. This defect can be multiple reasons with the engine harness wires chaffing or torque converter or transmission plus the whole electrical system not cranking over the truck from what i was told last time. Now i? M waiting till 730 to call a dealership see if they have a roll truck to pick it up and get it to a dealership where they can try to fix this problem.
