  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, and POWER TRAIN

While driving, the car lost power, stalled, and rolled backwards down an incline. Fortunately, the brakes worked allowing me to bring the car to a safe stop. The dealer has been trying to repair the car for 40 days (the repair is not complete). The repair included replacing the front motor. When i went online to the audi forums, it appears many drivers have experienced the same problem. Some type of refrigerant leak causes a failure of the front electric motor which causes the car to lose drive power (stall). I can't tell from the online forums how prevalent (or rare) this problem is, but it is clear that i am not the only audi q4 owner who has experienced the same sequence of events.

Component/system failed: brake servo part number 1eb-614-106-t safety put at risk: car was unable to move and completely locked up while in "drive". If this had happened at a stop light or in traffic, it would have dangerously obstructed traffic, as the car could not be put into neutral or any other gear and could not move. Tow truck with dollies was required to move vehicle. A flatbed could not be used since the wheels were all locked up. I was hit by a large truck on the driver side as i was in the right lane catching up to a safe speed. The hit spun the car around at least 180 degrees. Due to the massive pain i couldn’t move. The car just shut off completely to include all functions. There were no prompts from the car’s emergency to call for help which i find as a fault. Luckily i was in a populated area and emergency was able to respond. I am seeing reports in forums with photo evidence that the sos function is malfunctioning. The car is likely in a junk yard. I took the car in a month or so back for a charging module fault. Audi in lehi claimed to have seen a significant number of faults but couldn’t identify and remedy them.

My wife was involved in an accident with her audi q4 e-tron on monday, august 7, 2023 at approximately noon. She was driving into boulder to pick up our granddaughter from an art camp in table mesa. On her way to boulder, she noticed that the lane departure warning indicator light was not working which was odd because she had been using that since she purchased the car. She was also in drive b (regenerative braking) mode. She drove into the parking area and was pulling into a parking spot very slowly. When she moved her foot off of the accelerator towards the brake, the car lunged forward at an incredible speed. She pushed on the brake pedal with all her might, but it did not stop her from crashing into a pole, another car and the store front of weaver’s dive shop. This resulted in damages that were determined to be a total loss by the insurance company. We have researched the web to determine if this situation has happened to others. We were not surprised to discover that unintended sudden acceleration is a known issue. However, this occurs very rarely and happens when the car’s computer gets confused by the signals from the battery, accelerator and inverter. Dr. Ronald best has been researching unintended sudden acceleration for over 10 years and has published a number of articles which document his findings and how unintended sudden acceleration can occur due to what he refers to as a design flaw. We have saved & printed out documents which address this issue. I am attaching the most relevant article by dr. Ronald best. State farm, our insurance company compensated us for the total loss of our vehicle. We were not made whole because the car was 10 months old. The state farm report is attached. We submitted a request to audi national customer service to research the car to determine if there were any issues and to have them compensate us if there were issues. Attached is their response followed by our response followed by their final response.

On september 22, 2023, i was parking the car in a parking garage and i had my foot on the brake. I was about to shift to reverse when my car suddenly accelerated on its own into a cement wall. The horn is at an extremely low volume/pitch. Can barely hear it especially for other drivers inside their vehicle. Someone almost crashed into me and i pressed the horn but it was barely audible.

As i was starting to make a right hand turn into a parking space in a parking garage, the car suddenly accelerated. I slammed on the brakes, but the stopping distance was not long enough. The car crashed into the steel cabling and concrete pole. The airbags deployed and the damage was significant enough to total the car. I sustained bruising and back muscle pain from the force of the impact. I only had the car for 11 days when this happened. I requested black box data for the car from the collision center and insurance company - neither would provide. I also reported the incident to my audi dealer. Had there been a car in the parking spot next to me or directly in front of me, there would have been significant damage to other vehicles.
