I'm constantly having issues with my right sliding door on my 2018 Honda Odyssey, opening after it's been closed and I'm constantly getting beeping alerts on my dash saying problems with right sliding door while I'm driving. It's been happening for a while now. Fortunately, the door hasn't opened while I'm driving on the road yet, although it did occur once while I was backing out of my driveway. I notified the dealer before which they told me there was no recall on the door and they would have to charge me money to try to replicate the problem and if they found nothing wrong, I would be out of that money. There was a recall on the doors back in 2018, NHTSA campaign number: 18V795 but I didn't receive a recall notice. The alert on the dash happens almost daily at random times.

2019 Honda Odyssey
  • Date of Incident: Apr-22, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: May-02, 2024
  • Failed components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Issue fuel pump recall report: my vehicle was identified as an affected vehicle of this recall. The designated honda service shop failed to share the recall details when the specified engine stall was reported to the dealership at check in. When the vehicle engine stopped prior to the incident automatic sliding doors also stopped working and one week prior to this the audio and electrical outage on the media console also went out. All of the cracking and sound issues including inability to connect a phone properly via bluetooth (no handsfree capability) , the screen going black and or just blue without any display. Cruise control has never worked properly and fails to adjust speed or stop accelerating so basically has never been operable. Dealership and honda recall campaign has failed its clients tremendously on this one. I have zero trust in them or their interest to do the right thing. The safety concern remains: no reliability on speed acceleration on cruise control capabilities, no reliability on reverse cam or view quality, automatic door malfunction not sensing obstruction within a safe time to avoid impact, failure to avoid on coming traffic if the vehicle stalls in the way of high speed traffic or in route on freeway. Safety issue: the failed communication of the recall never ever shared by the dealership while vehicle was brought in for oil changes with diligence. Failure by the dealership to note the explained concerns as part of the nationally acclaimed recall (not in compliance). The dealership not seeing the direct safety obstruction of my (the drivers safety) and passenger safety (minor children) is subject to harm "daily" on account of the manufactured malfunctional processes.

  • Failed components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, and LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST

Getting the following error messages on 2019 Odyssey: - Brake system lights - Lane keeping assist problem (LKAS); - Auto high-beam problem (A) - Road departure mitigation system problem - Collision mitigation system problem - Adaptive cruise control problem (ACC) - Brake system lights These errors have caused safety issues, especially when someone comes in front of the car randomly or cuts you off. Also, the Brake system lights being on always make you think the brakes will not work when needed. These errors seem to be a known issue with Honda car owners putting drivers at risk and also the passengers.

  • Failed components: SEATS

The third row seat latching mechanism will not lock the seat into place on the floor. We had a child who was sitting in the seat and the seat flipped backward. It is the left side seat in the third row. It appears the mechanism inside the seat that secures to the floorboard is missing or broke.

The design defect of the camera in front of the car seriously affects the life safety of the driver. The dealer did not pay attention to this problem. The car did not collide, but six error prompts appeared during driving: adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem.

2015 Honda Odyssey
  • Date of Incident: Dec-21, 2023
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-29, 2024
  • Failed components: EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY:WHEELCHAIR LIFT/RAMP

12/21/23: wheelchair ramp and kneel function failed with no warning. This engaged safety feature that disables gear shift and keeps car in park. Unable to move car or deploy ramp using back-up override. Called mobility works (authorized vmi dealer). Troubleshooting failed to deploy ramp or kneel function. Told only option was to pop off tab next to gear shift and insert screwdriver to override “park” lock. Fortunately, quadriplegic spouse was not in the vehicle or he would have been trapped. 12/26/23 to 1/3/24: vehicle inspected at mobility works, technician diagnosed controller board failure and recommended replacement. Told vmi lost supplier for controller board leaving no way to properly restore conversion equipment. On 1/3/24 spoke to vmi technician who confirmed controller board is unavailable. He stated vmi engineering department is trying to develop a workaround for a new controller board. Vmi technician also reported two calls a day for this problem, and that it affects their chrysler conversion equipment as well. 2/7/24: telephoned vmi technical support. Told workaround for controller board will not be available for months. Told that if quadriplegic becomes trapped in car to call fire department. Told this is an acceptable solution in the mobility industry if back-up fails. Very cavalier, comparing to ford no longer making fuel pump or fuel hose for his old truck. 4/18/24; 4/25/24: emailed vmi requesting status of controller board replacement. No response. Conclusion: the controller board failed without warning, causing all conversion equipment to fail, including back-up override, and potentially trapping power wheelchair dependent individuals in their vehicles. Vmi has failed to provide parts for repair of its conversion equipment. Vmi authorized dealer estimates $1,000 to bypass controller board. This will cause certain accessibility functions to no longer work. The vehicle has been unusable for quadriplegic spouse since december 2023.

  • Failed components: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES, and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Our vehicle is only a few years old and the front camera failed. It will not do any automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, etc. Honda refuses to cover this even though it is a manufacturer defect.
