On 3/22/2024 i was driving my 2023 hyundai santa cruz with 19k miles about 30 mph. My transmission suddenly became jerky without warning and acted liked it did not want to downshift, staying in higher rpms. When it did decide to downshift, it lurched the vehicle badly. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the incident. A few seconds after it happened, the check engine light came on, along with a diagnostic notification on my infotainment screen. This indicated a powertrain issue. I then received a notification on my hyundai bluelink app regarding a powertrain issue: "transmission control system problem, please see dealer". I dropped the vehicle off 3/27/2024 and as of this writing on 5/13/2024 my vehicle has been sitting at a local dealership for almost 50 consecutive days. In the 5 day period between 3/22-3/27 i was instructed it was ok to keep driving the vehicle until drop-off. I experienced 2 more instances of a rough downshift in that time. When i dropped the vehicle off on 3/27, i was told i could take the vehicle home and drive it until they figure out what to do with it and receive instruction from hyundai corporate. This was an extremely reckless and dangerous thing to tell me i feel. The local dealer claimed they had not seen this issue before, had to wait for hyundai corporate to instruct them on what to do, but a transmission replacement was possible. Eventually they were instructed to replace the transmission oil pump and do a software update. Research shows the 2022 model santa cruz had a recall for the transmission oil pump. Recall # 22v746000 "transmission oil pump malfunction, which can result in a complete loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash". Yes i believe mine and my spouse's safety, and other's was/is at risk, as this happened as i was driving and there was a previous recall for this exact part. I have informed hyundai corporate america of the issue and waiting for responses and resolutions from them.

Just had the fuel induction serviced day prior to issue. Started car normally. Went to accelerate and no power. Car crawled forward and would not go past 25mph at a slow crawl. Stopped turned of engine and restarted. System to be working normally.
Our 2024 hyundai santa cruz se had a loss of engine power while attempting to accelerate into traffic after stopping at an intersection four times since purchase in november 2023. The engine did not go above idle for approximately 15 seconds while the gas pedal was pressed half way down. The vehicle barely moved into the road and then gained power after what seemed to be the same as limp mode. No codes were set, no warning lights, no unusual noises or vibrations. Vehicle runs great at all other times. These vehicles were recalled in 2022 for a faulty transmission pump and software that caused this issue. Why does hyundai still allow it for a 2024 model? Also, the backup camera stays on when driving forward now. We have the vehicle at the dealership awaiting their feedback
On [xxx] i was in pennsylvania packing my car to make a trip back home to new hampshire. I closed the tailgate and it fell off and hit the bumper which dented the tailgate. I was able to put it up on the truck. When i checked further i was able to put it back but stopped often on my 7 hour trip to make sure it was latched. I was never informed that this could happen and my sales person and customer service for hyundai was not aware of this issue. I was traveling from tennessee to indiana on [xxx] going about 76 mph. I attempted to switch lanes and at the same time the other vehicle decided to speed up as the semi behind started speeding up. When my 2024 santa cruz turbo (which only has 12,000 miles) jerked and started slowing down, the check engine light came on and it started declining acceleration. I mashed the gas and nothing happened (i was in normal mode- not smart mode, not sport mode, and not snow). I literally almost died as 2 very large trucks are coming at me full speed as i'm descending speed. I swerved off the road into the grass medium and was able to get out alive. However, the hyundai is still not accelerating the rpms will go to max and i’ll only be at 50 mph. I googled online and apparently this is been going on since 2022 with a several of hyundai cars not just santa cruz; the tucson, santa fe, and santa cruz were just some of the reports i read. Brand new car, front rotors had to be cut to stop a bad shaking of steering wheel and car. They only left 1/2 mm left of usable service life. New rotors are 30mm. Replacement is at 28mm. Service department left me with 28. 5mm.
Vehicle goes into limp mode not allowing you to go over 25 miles per hour. Happens randomly and unexpectedly causing you to about be rear ended. Once you pull over and shut vehicle off and restart it is normally ok for an unknown period of time
I was accelerating onto an interstate and my vehicle would not accelerate. My foot was to the floor on the gas but would not go above 35mph. I had to turn around on a on ramp , drive on the grass and limp my way home at 35 mph. No warning lights appeared.
I was trying to accelerate with pushing the gas pedal and the truck would not go any faster than 22 mph. This went on for 15 minutes until the truck was turned off and restarted. It seemed to be corrected with turning the vehicle off. No engine warning lights came on and the vehicle was in drive the whole time. The concern was not being able to accelerate on the on-ramp to the main highway. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone at this time. The problem could not be reproduced after it occurred today.
