  • Date complaint filed: Apr-24, 2024
  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES

In april , 2020, i contacted the ram dealership because the "service electronic braking system" warning light was coming on intermittently in my truck. It took two months to get an appointment scheduled at which time the truck was diagnosed with a faulty abs hydraulic module. Estimated delivery time for the replacement part was an additional two months which made the truck over the 36000 mile warranty period. An appointment was made to have the part replaced but when i took the vehicle in i was advised there was no mechanic available to do the work. I purchased the part and had it installed by another dealer at a total cost of $986. 86. The exact same problem reoccurred in may, 2022 and the part was replaced at a cost of $882. 01. The problem reoccurred again in april, 2023 and was misdiagnosed as a computer problem which was repaired at a cost of $722. 80. A new hydraulic module was then ordered to actually fix the problem and here it is a year later and there is still no firm delivery date available. The alarm and warning light flash almost constantly. We have had three close calls in the rain due to the failure of the abs system and at this point i feel the vehicle is unsafe to drive. In addition to the abs system malfunctioning, this problem also makes the cruise control inoperable. Recently the right front brake has begun to chatter making the vehicle pull to the right.

Defective headlamps. Excessive moisture builds up in housing effecting performance of lights in evening. Was stopped by dps for having bad headlamps. Dealership says it normal, no its not. It's very unsafe to drive at night with moisture in lamps. Had it looked at or inspected by independent shop and dps. My safety is at risk for you can't see at night with all the moisture in lamps. This is a common problem with ram 1500 all over the internet.
