2016 Jeep CHEROKEE
  • Date of Incident: Mar-15, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-24, 2024
  • Failed components: POWER TRAIN

My car started showing a "service 4wd" light on the dashboard. I took it to the mechanic and they stated that its an issue with the power train transfer case. This is the same issue that has been on the recall list for jeep cherokees except my vin isn't on the list yet. This issue could have caused me to lose power in my car and could've caused me to crash. I am requesting that my car be added to this list as i have had to pay out of pocket for the very same defect in the make/model car that has been issued a recall. The total repair cost me 3,214. 50 including parts and labor($2,148. 50 for the transfer case part plus $164 for the diagnostic and $902 for the removal and installation. See images of receipts below. This issue also had me without a car for 2 weeks which was originally an estimated 3-4 weeks. Since this is a well known issue, i would like my car added to the recall list so that i can seek possible reimbursement.

I have replaced the water pump three times costing me close to $1000. 00. No warning light has came on only the smell when it is leaking that my fiancé recognizes. So in this case do i have to wait until it starts to overheat and i am stranded on the side of the road? Why am i replacing an obvious faulty part? I also know that i am not the only jeep owner within the year of mine that has had this problem that jeep doesn’t recognize? If needed i can provide copies of my receipts and dealership paperwork. Also why are the new water pumps protected with a warranty? Each water pump i had installed could have defects.

2022 Jeep GRAND CHEROKEE
  • Date of Incident: Apr-23, 2024
  • Date complaint filed: Apr-24, 2024
  • Failed components: SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, and FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Today was the second time the aeb engaged while i was driving with no apparent reason. The first was in nov 2023 while driving on the interstate at about 70 mph. The aeb engaged, slamming the car to an almost stop, alarm blared for a moment and then the car continued operating with no apparent codes or warning lights. Today it did it again while traveling about 30 mph. I was slowing down to turn into a drive. I was still headed straight with no cars around and the aeb engaged, slamming the car to a full stop, with the alarm and the dash flashing something in red. The car then drove off fine with no warning lights or indicators on the dash. I cannot reproduce the aeb reponse. In response to the first occurrence, the dealer “flashed” the software last year. I intend to take it in tomorrow for the reoccurrence. I believe it to be a safety issue not only in that my back hurts terribly from the whiplash of a stop as sudden as hitting a wall, but because had there been a car behind me on either occasion, it is almost certain they would have had to make a dramatic and dangerous swerve to avoid it or rear ended me.

My antilock brake system failed and made it where i cannot set my cruise control and the part that is required to fix has been on nation wide backorder since september 30 of 2023 this is unacceptable for a safety part to be that hard to replace and if that many are on backorder it should be recalled. The ck engine light would go on and off for a few monthes
