On monday april 29, 2024 i started my car and immediately a warning signal on the dashboard read engine low performance , and the dashboard went black and the engine cut off. The car was then towed to the glen cove volvo. After a diagnostic i was informed the following needed to be replaced - fuel filler pipe 2) fuel pressure low fuel indicator 3) the aforementioned replacements will require calibrated software update. . I bought this car brand new and i am the only owner and it has only been serviced by volvo. This car only has 59, 300 miles. I researched the problem online and noted it was a common problem with the. Same make and year of my car and could not understand why there is not a recall for my car, by volvo for this issue no matter the milage. I came across correspondence on the internet from jason guidi referencing service action s29843 - fuel tank filler pipe insert was manufactured out of specification for only t8 engines. I reached out to volvo car usa customer care and inquired about them covering the cost of the repairs and also informing them that this problem is not only affecting t8 engines. I just received a response for my concern stating they are sorry they can not assist me with this matter. I cannot begin to express how sadden and disappointed in the corporation, to experience their lack of compassion and. Concern about their product after i spent thousands of dollars of my hard earned money on this defective car. I have no faith in volvo and no longer feel safe driving this car. I will tell all my relatives and friends of my experience to save them from volvo's lack of concern about their customers' safety. This is clearly no wear and tear. There are multiple posts on the internet. There's a case of replacement at 10,000 miles, another case where it was replaced and failed again and the dealer is requesting the owner to pay. This this not right. There should be a recall for the entire system when it fails. -clearly defective

The contact owns a 2016 volvo xc90. The contact stated that both oil and coolant would frequently be added to the engine as both the check engine and oil warning lights would appear on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on multiple occasions where the crank shaft seal and fuel injectors were replaced; however, the failure persisted. One day while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal as the turtle warning light appeared on the instrument panel which indicated that there was reduced engine performance. The contact managed to drive the vehicle to herb chambers volvo cars of norwood(1120 providence hwy #1, norwood, ma 02062) where they were informed that contact that the fourth engine chamber had burned out which lead to engine failure. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -the backup camera system fails to respond intermittently. Often times the screen will remain black for several seconds while backing up before the screen shows any picture. Other times it will come on, and then flash to black while you are backing up. This is a major hazard should a child run/walk behind a car, when this occurs. I'm hoping others have expressed this problem so action can be taking. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -since backup cameras are a federal requirement since 5/2018. The failure to function on these new cars i find to be unacceptable. Even more so given that volvo is supposed to be a brand dedicated to safety. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? -indirectly yes, the volvo dealership acknowledged that the new google system is slow to respond at times. But they said a new software update would fix it. I have found this to not be the case and it seems to be happening more frequently now. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? -yes by the dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? -no

Multiple times when driving the car, all sounds that the car makes will simply stop working. This includes things like the safety features and warning sounds, the turn signals, the radio, any map directions, etc. We have researched online for a solution and found others with similar problems, and we have reported the issue to the dealer on 3 different occasions - they took it into service and told us they did updates to the software, but none of their changes have prevented this from happening again. It is random. Other times, the screens will simply lock up, but the audio still works. Eventually, the system will reset. Sometimes all it takes is turning the car off and back on again, other times we've had to leave it to sit overnight before it is working again. This is clearly a safety issue and also a ridiculous thing to have happen to a car that costs over $70,000.

The left rear door of my vehicle flew open while we were moving with my 10-year-old daughter sitting adjacent to the door. Fortunately, she had her seat belt on otherwise the result would have been tragic. On [xxx] my daughter got into the back of my vehicle, suddenly, her door flew open, i immediately stopped the vehicle. My daughter was unable to shut the door and after many attempts i got the door to shut. When we arrived at home both rear doors would not open and my now trapped daughter exited through the front door. On [xxx], i went to volvo in rochester ny and explained the situation expecting the service person to be extremely concerned. Much to my surprise he said “that happens all the time” and that when it gets cold out sometimes the latches don’t respond. I anticipated that my car would go in immediately but was told “how is thursday to bring your car in. ” i dropped my car off and received a call that afternoon with “great news” that the issue was a faulty door latch, the part was in stock and came with a “lifetime warranty. ” he told me the cost was $734. 00 per door meaning with sales tax the cost would be over $1,500 and i would still have two doors at risk for flying open in the future. I asked how this life safety issue which has failed on countless other vehicles is not covered by the manufacturer nor has there been a recall. He said volvo has recognized the door latch safety issue and designed a fix. When the door latch fails, this new replacement part, that the consumer pays for, solves the problem. Volvo recognized a safety problem, designed the fix, yet has chosen not to recall the vehicles that have these problems but rather waits until the door latch fails before the consumer must pay to replace it. I arrived the next day to pick up my vehicle, sat down with the service manager who was empathetic, but reiterated this is an issue that has repeatedly occurred. This needs to be addressed and not paid by consumers information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act

The airbag system detected a fault and caused an automated vehicle warning message, which, with further dealer diagnosis, caused the driver seat belt to have a ground fault issue, preventing the normal, safe, and fully operating vehicle airbags. The cause and what must be replaced to rectify the problem are unknown. Volvo has poor customer support and satisfaction regarding avoidable repairs, along with various documented airbag failure incidents confirming a severe issue with its system components that require government oversight and correction through a recall to ensure the safety and reliability of the safety systems that protect lives.

I was driving in the right hand lane on a two lane road where the speed limit is 30mph. While the road was curving to the left slightly the vehicle's collision avoidance system was triggered and swerved the car into the left lane towards on coming traffic and cutting off a car behind me. The road was completely empty in front of me. It created a dangerous situation for no reason. I have dashcam footage that captured the moment the car intervened that i can provide if requested, i'm unable to upload video on this portal.
